FAQ

If a test taker registers for the wrong exam, can it be changed?

Yes, test takers can log in to the My CLEP student portal to change the exam title. After clicking on the “Upcoming Exams” tab, the test taker must locate the exam they want to change and then select “View and Edit Registration.” When on the “Registration Details” page, click Edit under the “Exam Details” section and follow the steps to change the exam title.

It’s important to note that when updating an exam title, the original registration is canceled, and a new registration ID is created. In addition, if a test taker self-paid for an exam, a refund will be issued for the original registration, and payment will be required for the updated exam registration. (Please be aware that refunds may take 7-10 business days to be posted back to the credit card.)

If a voucher or DANTES funding was used for the original registration, it will be applied to the updated registration. However, the student may have to cover e-guide costs and remote proctoring costs if the original voucher does not cover these fees. In addition, DANTES funding can only be applied to an updated exam subject that wasn’t previously funded by DANTES. Otherwise, the student is responsible for covering the cost for the updated exam.
