  2. Get College Board approval for accommodations.

If you need accommodations for your exam and haven’t been approved by the College Board, please follow the guidelines on the Accommodations for Remote Proctored Exams page.

Below are two important points to note:

    • It is recommended to submit your request for accommodations two months in advance of your planned test date.
    • The following accommodations are available with remote-proctored testing:
      • Screen magnification
      • Modifiable screen colors
      • Extended time
      • Untimed rest breaks
      • Permission for food, drinks, medication, to test blood sugar, or other similar medically-necessary accommodations (only while in view of the proctor and that do not impact the CLEP testing platform)
  3. Choose an Exam

Visit the CLEP exam topics page and choose the exam you want to take. Go to the page for that exam to see what the exam covers, what it costs, and resources to help you prepare for it. (If you’re familiar with several exam topics and having trouble deciding, no worries, multiple exams can be purchased during the same transaction.)

Click the Register button, once you’ve decided on an exam

Remember, all 34 CLEP exams can be taken with remote proctoring.

  4. Sign in to My CLEP

    • Select the exam. You’re only able to select one exam subject at a time, but you’ll be given the opportunity to register for another exam prior to check out.
    • Select a preferred testing location. You can choose to take your exam at a physical test center or with remote proctoring. Once registration is complete, you must schedule your exam directly with your test center or our remote proctoring vendor.
    • Practice before your exam. You have the option to purchase an examination guide.
  7. Send Your Score

    • During registration and prior to testing, you may select up to 2 institutions to have your score sent to for free.

FAQ

Can I reschedule from a test center to an exam with remote proctoring?

Yes. If you'd like to change your testing location from a physical CLEP test center to remote proctoring, test takers can log in to the My CLEP student portal to change the test location. After clicking on the “Upcoming Exams” tab, the test taker must select the appropriate exam and then select “View and Edit Registration.” When on the “Registration Details” page, click Edit under the “Exam Details” section and then follow the steps to change the test location.

  • It’s important to note that when updating an exam location, the original registration is canceled, and a new registration ID is created.
  • In the Order Summary section, you’ll see refund details for the original registration and payment details for the updated registration which will display the required $30 remote proctoring fee. (Please be aware that refunds may take 7-10 business days to be posted back to the credit card.)

If a voucher or DANTES funding was used for the original registration, it will be applied to the updated registration. However, the student may have to cover e-guide costs and remote proctoring costs if the original voucher doesn't cover these fees. In addition, DANTES funding can only be applied to an updated exam subject that wasn’t previously funded by DANTES. Otherwise, the student is responsible for covering the cost for the updated exam.

After placing your order, you'll receive an email from CLEP confirming that your registration has been updated. You’ll then have to go to the Proctortrack website to create an account and schedule your exam appointment.

Please Note: Be sure to check the "Who's Eligible for Remote Proctoring" requirements found on the Registering for a CLEP Exam with Remote Proctoring page prior to rescheduling your exam.
